Central Diesel is conveniently located in the heart of the Virginia, on the banks of the James. Minutes from Downtown Richmond, and only a short drive from Tidewater and our Nation’s capital. Our location provides a dynamic transportation gateway adjacent to I-95 with easy access to I-64 and I-85, air and major rail services, allowing Central Diesel to serve customers not only in the Commonwealth, but across the country with the same level of service. Central Diesel is an authorized distributor for several international diesel manufacturers being settled alongside the Port of Richmond which affords us access to nearly 30 international shipping lines, allowing our reach to extend to over 200 countries. Central Diesel takes great pride in consistently being recognized as an industry leader, and value-added supplier to not only our local customers, but to those located across the globe as well.
Since April of 2005, our mindset has been: “Our greatest assets are our customers and our employees”. Every year, we continue to reinvest in our staff with training and equipment to meet the expectations of our over 4000 customers. We have an experienced staff with over six hundred years of experience to assist our customers in solving their problems every day. Our test equipment is identical to what the original equipment manufacturers use every day when they are developing or testing new products that are being introduced to the market place.
With a daily average of 1.5 million dollars in inventory on our shelves, we are able to solve our customers problems in a timely manner. Being a problem solver to numerous market segments, we listen to our customers concerns and challenges and solve them in a way that is financially beneficial to both parties. Since the creation of CDI in 1974 by Martin R. Wittersheim, this mandate continues to be followed. In 1974, our service department warrantied all their work for six months. Following his mandate, our service departments’ service work is warrantied for 14 months, unlimited hours or miles since 2008.
These company philosophies have resulted in CDI starting off with only fifty customers in 1974 to over 4400 in 2020.
