A Background of ADS and the ADS International Convention

The Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) is the leading trade association of the international diesel industry. Its members are independent repair shops that specialize in diesel fuel injection, governor, drive-in, and turbocharger service, as well as original equipment manufacturers, distributors, and diesel mechanic training schools. Read on to learn more about ADS and the ADS International Convention.

A Background of ADS

In 1956, ADS’s founders set out to develop an organization promoting the diesel service industry on a larger scale. They aimed to further promote the industry and develop industry standards and conduct that would be followed worldwide. Since the beginning, ADS has delivered generous technical resources and networking opportunities to members—carried forth today through the ADS International Convention.

ADS strives to be the world’s leading professional organization for sales and service of diesel systems both new and old, while supporting advancements in the diesel industry. The organization is dedicated to aiding members in improving both the needed technical skills to meet these demands and the business practices necessary for success. The diesel industry plays an integral role in society, which ADS promotes by working with legislators, regulators, and the public.

ADS and the ADS International Convention Today

Since its first days 62 years ago, ADS continues to expand upon the high standards and service its founding members initially set. The organization’s first female president, Laura Roundtree, was elected in 2018, further highlighting the positive demographic changes within the organization and the OEM industry since ADS was founded.

Today’s ADS International Conventions give attendees extensive access to opportunities and resources, helping further develop diesel industry businesses. By attending the convention, members build valuable one-on-one connections while benefitting from the organization’s exclusive industry resources. Over the event’s four days, seminars, presentations, and panels covering industry advancements and business development are offered. ADS International Convention attendees access:

  • Opportunities to network with over 1,000 leaders in the diesel service industry
  • Educational programs and year-round communications from ADS, including Nozzle Chatter magazine
  • Money-saving resources, including the Swap & Shop, for members who want to buy, sell, or trade equipment

Central Diesel Participation

Central Diesel president Billy Oehlschlager serves on the ADS Board of Directors and the International Convention board, representing our company in support of the ADS mission: to provide programs and services that will help achieve success in members’ businesses in the diesel industry. True to the high standards set by ADS, Central Diesel aims to tackle the challenge of meeting and exceeding the high expectations and demands of our customers in the marine, construction, agriculture, and transportation industries, amongst others.

Central Diesel shares the ADS value of supporting long-term relationships with our customers. We believe the ADS International Convention is invaluable in forming and growing these relationships. The Central Diesel family is looking forward to establishing new connections at this year’s ADS International Convention.

Looking back at CDI’s 2016!

From everyone at Central Diesel Inc., we would like to take the time to thank you for your business and wish you Happy Holidays!  2016 has been a great year, and we are looking forward to an even better 2017!  Below are a few of our highlights of 2016, and some of the events we are excited for in 2017.

One thing in 2016 we are very proud of is being the first and only distributor in North America to pass their service audit from Deutz Deutz Gold StatusAG.  The results of this audit gave CDI “Gold” status on our key performance indicators.  Part of the audit included a check of our Deutz tools, training and service vehicles to make sure they meet the Deutz customer’s expectations.   We would like to thank all our employees for helping us achieve these standards, because “Our Greatest assets are our customers and our employees.”

Other highlights in 2016 included the launch of our new website and blog which will help us better serve the needs of our customers, and communicate useful information. We also attended many tradeshows and equipment shows this year where we met many great people and were able to share information about our products and services.

In 2017 we look forward to providing the excellent customer service our customers are accustomed to.   Keep your eye on our blog in January where we will be offering maintenance tips that are important to help extend the life of your vehicle.  Also we will be continuing to attend tradeshows and events with the first show on our 2017 calendar being the HDAW Conference in Las Vegas from 1/23-27/17.
