  1. Proper Maintenance is Essential To Eliminate Vehicle Downtime

If you drive a vehicle or operate a piece of equipment every day, a hydraulic hose or fitting is being used to operate what you are using. Some items that we use on a daily basis may have only two hydraulic hoses, while others may go into the hundreds.

Proper maintenance of these items is essential in eliminating expense repairs or unexpected downtime. There is a reason when your mechanic recommends a power steering flush or brake flush on your vehicle from time to time? The chemical composition of power steering fluid and brake fluid is to absorb water molecules from the working pumps and hoses in hydraulic systems.

At CDI, we provide hydraulic filtration kits for a large variety of equipment that our customers use. From the Railroad industry to the construction market and beyond.

We also offer our customers leading technology products to reduce their TCO. Contact us here for more information on how we can assist you.

  3. Diesel Engines are Revolutionizing Agriculture

U.S. based agriculture has changed drastically over the past few decades. Even though farm and plot sizes have increased, the introduction of automation and mechanization has offered farmers the ability to work independently without being completely reliant on seasonal labor.

    Diesel Tractor Agriculture

In our previous blogs we’ve discussed some of the different industries where diesel engines are used, as well as the shift to clean diesel technology only.  Below we look at the reasons why the diesel industry is vital to US agriculture.

Why is Diesel the Mainstay of US Agriculture?

Diesel isn’t just the life blood of tractors and vehicles racing across the highways. Agricultural equipment has also left gasoline alternatives behind to embrace diesel. There are a number of advantages accompanying this move:

    1. Diesels produce more torque at lower engine speeds thanks to combustion ignition.
    2. Diesel engines typically use 25% to 35% less fuel than spark based engines. For low-speed applications, this is even more critical.
    3. Diesels can support high power outputs at low speeds. Diesel engines produce less wasted heat and in the process they can tow heavy loads and run for longer periods of time without causing damage to the moving parts of the engine.
    4. The durability of diesel engines is unquestionable. They don’t need to be called in for frequent repairs or re-buildings, and when an overhaul is needed the process is far less complicated than for other engines.

Diesel Gets Better with New Clean Technology:

The clean technology diesel engines are a marvel of technological advancement. They have leveraged the trifecta of low sulfur fuel, clean burning mechanism, and effective emission control and exhaust treatment to already reduce 7.5 million tons of NOX, 39 million tons of CO2 and have saved over 65 million barrels of diesel oil since 2010.

Diesel fuel and clean tech diesel engines are not only making US agriculture more productive and economically important, they are also working behind the scenes to conserve fuel, save money and cut down on noxious fumes which add to the pollution caused by this sector.

At Central Diesel Inc. we are a premium distributor of diesel engines, parts, and other custom services. Our mission is to be a quality supplier of diesel engines and parts as well as offering unsurpassed solutions to our customers.  For more information on the products we offer, please contact us here.

  4. Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Helps Improve Air Quality

For heavy duty vehicles, diesel engines are the best choice due to their durability and efficiency. In past blogs we’ve looked at the steps that have been taken to make diesel engines more environmentally friendly with the shift to clean diesel engines. This resulted in standards which were designed to cut the allowable levels of sulfur in diesel fuel by 97%. To continue the shift to clean diesel engines, recently the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) was passed.

Diesel Emissions Reduction Act - Truck Emissions

    Diesel Emissions Reduction Act

The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to allow for significant air quality improvements. Most recently it was announced that the EPA would be awarding $7.7 million to replace or retrofit 401 older diesel school busses under 27 states under DERA. The goal of this is to finance the replacement of older diesel buses with newer and more efficient technology.

DERA has been vital over the years to make sure old, harmful to the environment diesel engines are replaced and upgraded to environmentally friendly engines. According to a 2016 EPA report, more than 73,000 older diesel powered engines were upgraded or replaced between 2008 and 2013. The school bus rebate program made up a large number of these replacements, as school districts are able to obtain funds to upgrade their diesel engine powered school bus fleet. With the advancement in technology available, it is important for the environment to replace old diesel engines, with the new available clean tech diesel engines.

Here at Central Diesel Inc. we are a distributor of clean tech diesel engines that are used for numerous applications and industries including the marine, construction, mining, transportation, and agriculture industries. With a growing inventory of diesel engines from brands such as Deutz, Mitsubishi, Kubota, and Zenith Power Products among many others, we can meet all your clean diesel engine replacement needs. 5. The Importance of Vehicle Maintenance

Performing day to day vehicle maintenance requires making the proper decisions on filters and engine oil being used.  While most filter manufacturers promote their products to meet or exceed the engine manufacturers requirements, the question that needs to be asked is: “Which requirement are the engine manufacturers following and are these filter replacements meeting the current updated requirements?”

    Vehicle Maintenance for diesel engines

Example:  When Bosch, Denso or Delphi supplies a CR fuel system to an engine manufacturer they supply the engine manufacturer with the following information:

    A) If you want the fuel system to be able to last trouble free for 200,000 miles under normal maintenance intervals: Use a 10 Micron filter as your final filter to the vehicle fuel system.

    B) If you want the fuel system to be able to last trouble free for 300,000 miles under normal maintenance intervals: Use a 2 Micron filter as your final filter to the vehicle fuel system.

Repairing a contaminated CR fuel system on an over the road vehicle can cost $6,000.00 to $12,000.00.  Performing proper preventive maintenance on your vehicle or equipment will reduce the possibility of these devastating issues affecting your TCO.

As a factory authorized CR repair center for all the manufacturers, we can offer you our expertise (over 200 years of experience) and products in assisting you in maintaining your vehicle or equipment properly.  Contact us for more information on proper vehicle maintenance.

  7. Mobile Generators

Generators are extremely useful pieces of equipment – they are your own personal power plant, turning fuel into electricity when you need it on-demand. There are a number of different generators out there, both permanent and mobile, and ranging from units that a single person can carry to units that require a vehicle to move.

    G290 Mobile Generators

    Benefits of Mobile Generators

Mobile generators offer maneuverability and flexibility that a permanent generator cannot. While mobile generators may have reduced output capabilities – after all, there is only a finite amount of weight that can easily be towed around and positioned in sometimes soft ground – you can move them from site to site. While a semi-permanent or permanent generator may take days to install and get going, a mobile generator can generally be dropped right on site and started up immediately.

Mobile generators also offer the ability to be swapped out for maintenance easily. Where a permanent generator will have to be powered down and may cause a site to be without power for a little bit, a mobile generator can be swapped out for another mobile generator when maintenance is needed, leading to minimal downtime.

Times When You’ll Want  Mobile Generator

    • Emergencies – Everything from fires, to tornadoes, to accidents can knock out power, and in an emergency, having power can be the difference between life and death. A mobile generator ensures power, regardless of the remoteness or urgency of an emergency.
    • Outdoor Events – Running hundreds or thousands of feet of temporary wiring from the closest hard-wired power point can be dangerous. When an outdoor event requires power, a mobile generator can be placed at an advantageous spot, minimizing electrical hazards, trip hazards, and the need to buy thousands of feet of electrical wiring.
    • Job Sites – Especially in the early phases of a project, you may find the need for electricity for power tools and lighting before electric has been run to the site. A mobile generator means you can move from job site to job site, and always be sure that your tools will have the power they need to do the job.
    • Power Back-up – At home or at your business, power outages can strike at any time. A mobile generator can provide immediate response, and it can be stowed off-site or in a storage building when not needed, so it stays out of your way.

Here at Central Diesel, we carry the best in Doosan Infracore Generators. These heavy-duty generator systems are designed for the rigors of special event, construction job site, and emergency usage. Mounted on wheeled platforms, they can be towed to where they are needed, and removed when you need to move them to the next site. So contact us today to find out how we can help your mobile generator needs!

  9. The Shift to Clean Diesel Engines

Pollution from engine emissions has always been a concern as heavy duty trucks became the go to transportation option for freight and cargo shipments. In 2000, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized the dangers emissions from heavy-duty trucks and buses could cause and developed rules and regulations to limit them.  These new standards were designed to cut the allowable levels of sulfur in diesel fuel by 97% by 2010.  By 2007, all heavy-duty diesel trucks sold had to have particulate emissions levels of no more than 0.01 grams per brake horsepower hour.

Inline 3 Cylinder Mitsubishi Clean Diesel Engines

Here in 2016 we are witnessing the results of these regulations.  According to the Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) more than 40% or about 4 million of the 9.5 million medium and large diesel trucks on the road have shifted over to newer technology clean diesel engines.  These trucks have particulate emissions levels near zero, which is resulting in clean air benefits being felt all over the U.S.  These new engines also are benefiting truckers by showing 3-5% improvements in fuel economy from the older style diesel engines.

The Rise of the New Clean Diesel Engines:

In Indiana, Utah, Oklahoma and Texas, more than 50% of all trucks boast the new recommended clean diesel engine technology. California and Oregon are close behind with growing numbers of newer diesel truck registrations.  It is evident that the engine has achieved something almost impossible – it has satisfied the mandates of the Environment Protection Agency and has managed to incentivize its adoption through enhanced fuel efficiency. The future of emissions pollution control in the US looks bright.

Central Diesel is Proud to be Part of the Endeavour for a Cleaner US:
